The Tula Explore baby carrier is a new offering from Baby Tula (at the time of writing this review, it had only been out for 3 months).

And what's the biggest difference between this and other Tula carriers - a facing out position!

This is an evolution of their Free-to-Grow carrier with the major difference being that facing out position, making this a more versatile option - and particularly appealing to those that have babies who just love to face out to the world (both of our boys do!).

Like other Tula carriers, the Explore is a nice low profile, lightweight design that will appeal to those looking for something less bulky to carry their precious little one in.

Tula Explore Baby Carrier REVIEW

Baby Tula Explore Baby Carrier, Adjustable Newborn to Toddler Carrier, Ergonomic and Multiple Positions for 7 – 45 pounds – Everblue (Blue with Teal Blue Fern Leaves)

The Explore is the most versatile in the Baby Tula line and has (at time of writing) only been available for a few months. The biggest thing that sets this carrier apart from other Tula carriers is the ability to have your baby facing out.

Versatility/Adjustability

The Baby Tula Explore baby carrier is versatile in a couple of different ways.

Firstly, it can accommodate a wide range of baby sizes all the way from 7lbs to 45lbs. And it's adjustable design means that you won't need any infant inserts for when your baby is small. And you can adjust the carrier as your baby grows.

The other thing that makes it versatile is the different carry positions. You can carry the Tula Explore in 3 different positions:

  1. Front Facing-In
  2. Front Facing-Out
  3. Back Carry

There's no hip carry option but otherwise that's pretty much all the positions you'll ever need. If you're fan of hip carrying, then it might not be for you though.

It's also adjustable to fit different sized adults. The waist belt can adjust from 27" to 57".

Comfort

This carrier is nice and light and low profile, which really helps with the comfort (as well as style) of this carrier.

It also has good weight distribution and enough padding to be comfortable for wearer and baby.

It also has a padded newborn pillow for more comfort and support for newborn babies in the carrier.

Easy and Convenient

Not needing an infant insert makes this carrier very convenient. Also, not being as bulky as some carriers makes it easy to deal with.

It's not the easiest nor the hardest to use, compared to others. Once you get the hang of how the adjustments work and how to put it on, it becomes really easy though.

Hip Healthy

The Tula Explore baby carrier is acknowledged as being hip healthy by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute.

Who is this product for?

This carrier is great for anyone who wants a lower profile, less bulky carrier but still want the versatility of 3 carry positions and the convenience of being able to carry their child from a newborn all the way into the pre-school years, without the need of an infant insert.

Not for anyone who wants a hip carry position and may be out of reach for those on a low budget.

How to Use It

The Baby Tula Explore baby carrier can be carried in 3 different carry positions. The first time Tula has created a carrier with a facing-out option.

  1. Front Facing-In
  2. Front Facing-Out
  3. Back Carry

Check out the following video for a look at how to use the Baby Tula Explore in the Front Facing-Out position.

Conclusion

For the first time, Baby Tula have created a carrier that you can put your baby in front facing-out, making the Tula Explore baby carrier the most versatile in their line.

It keeps other qualities of Tula carriers that so many like, like being a low profile, non-bulky design.

Overall, it's a versatile, adjustable, comfortable & stylish carrier that will suit many.

Value-For-Money

It's one of the more pricey carriers you can buy - though certainly not the highest price that we've seen. And it's pretty much a standard price for a carrier with this level of versatility so we think it's priced about right.

And since it's a carrier that is likely able to be used by multiple caregivers and one that will be the only baby carrier you'll ever need for all of your baby carrying days, we think it's worth the investment at this price.
