  • plus-circle
    Sleek, low profile, and stylish

What We Don't Like

  • No sun hood
  • Pocket is a bit inconvenient
  • Some can find the mesh (on the Cool Mesh version) a little rough
  • minus-circle
    Buckle release can be difficult

The Beco Gemini baby carrier is an all carry positions baby carrier that can carry your baby right from newborn (7lb minimum) and up to 35lbs. Which makes this possibly the only carrier you'll ever need for your baby.

It rivals the versatility of carriers like the Lillebaby Complete and the Ergo OMNI 360, but with the sleek low profile, lightweight look and feel of a Tula carrier.

Whilst there is no sun hood and the pocket that is there is in an awkward position, these are practically the only things that take away from this versatile and comfortable carrier.

The newborn head support and the fact that no infant insert is needed, make this one of the better carriers for newborns, that can still accommodate older babies as well.

All of that, plus being setup in an ergonomic, hip healthy way for baby, make the Gemini a quality, sort after baby wearing  tool.

Beco Gemini Baby Carrier REVIEW

Gemini Performance Baby Carrier By Beco - Cool Mesh in Navy - Multi-Position Soft Structured Sling w/ Adjustable Straps & Comfort Padding for Infant/Toddler Hip Support

The Beco Gemini baby carrier strikes that balance between being functional, versatile and comfortable, with also being stylish and sleek.

Versatility/Adjustability

It compares to some of the most versatile carriers, like the Ergo OMNI 360 and Lillebaby Complete, but with the style and low profile feel of something like the Tula Free-to-Grow.

It is versatile in a number of ways:

  1. 4 carry positions (front facing-in, front facing-out, hip and back
  2. Accommodates babies from 7lbs to 35lbs, without an infant insert
  3. Accommodates adults from XS to XXL
  4. Has newborn head support

Where it falls behind some others, in the versatility stakes, is the lack of a sun hood and some others are rated to 45lbs, but otherwise it's very versatile and adjustable.

Comfort

All round the carrier is really comfortable for both baby and wearer, but the mesh material on the Cool Mesh version isn't the softest. So, for sensitive babies or wearers, that Cool Mesh version might not be as comfortable.

Easy and Convenient

It's one of the easier carriers to get on and off, not babybjorn-easy but easier than a lot of others. The only thing some people have reported having issues with is releasing the safety buckles.

There is a pocket in the waist belt, which is handy for carrying keys, phone etc, but it's not in the most accessible spot, when carrying baby.

The carrier is machine washable which is nice.

Ergonomic and Hip Healthy

And probably the most important thing, is that the carrier promotes an ergonomic, hip healthy position for babies, in all carry positions.

Who is this product for?

First and foremost, the Beco Gemini baby carrier is for anyone looking for a carrier that you can use for a newborn (from 7lbs) and continue to use for a toddler (up to 35lbs).

More specifically if you're looking for a carrier that strikes a good balance between being:

  1. Sleek and lightweight
  2. Versatile and adjustable
  3. Easy to get on and off

Then it might be for you. It's not the top in any of these categories but its better than most for all of them, IMO.

If one or the other is your highest priority, then there might another option that's more suitable, but if you want a balance of all 3, then this is the one to get.

Conclusion

The Beco Gemini baby carrier is a great option for parents/caregivers looking for a carrier that is suitable for their baby as a newborn through to a toddler.

There are some downsides:

  1. There's no sun hood
  2.  The mesh on the Cool Mesh version isn't the softest feeling
  3. The pocket is in a bit of an inconvenient position

But mostly, it's a great carrier, with upsides that more than outweigh the downsides, IMO, namely:

  1. An ergonomic, hip healthy carrier
  2. Versatile in terms of carry positions and baby age range
  3. Adjustable to fit different sized wearers
  4. Comfortable and supportive
  5. Sleek and lightweight
  6. Easy to put on/take off

So, all round, it's a great buy. It's not the cheapest going around, but because of its versatility and the way it balances ease of use, comfort, style and versatility, it makes it good value-for-money, in my humble opinion.
